Full Biography

ANGELO CHERCHI was born  on 2nd  August  1951, in Iglesias. He started to write in 1969 for some  local newspapers as L’unione Sarda, La Nuova Sardegna and La Gazzetta del lunedì  in Sassari. His writing style comes from an experimental idea of art, where plastic-art, music and theatre languages are mixed in an unique language. During the seventies he was in Paris where he met such as writers: Jacquès Prevert, Jean Paul Sartre, Simone De Beauvoir  and other great personalities as M.me Achard (President du Centre A. Dumas and friend of the great playwriter Marcel Achard), and Pierre Dux (Directeur de la Comedie Française). In 1974  he wrote and published, always in Paris, “The Polidimensional Manifesto” (entitled “L’homme e l’espace”), in a special and prestigious place as The Chardin Gallery in occasion of The Polidimensional Art’s Exposition, where there were a few parisien artists and intellectuals. 

After that the Polidimensional Movement started to travel around the world with several expositions and performances: Paris, Milan, Spoleto (Two World’s Festival), New york, Hong-Kong etc. Always in the seventies he was in  touch with The Frattal Movement,  an active USA art-group.  Then he came back to Italy, where he  lives nowadays, and met and started a friendship  with the writer Marcello Serra, a very important and great personality for his intellectual and artistic growth. In 1979 he was in Milan at “Il Salice”( an important  Cultural Centre) gest of the poetess Vittoria Palazzo, where he presented a poem collection dealing with The Polidimensional Movement, to several journalists, intellectuals and artists  such as: Cesare Medai (Corriere della Sera), Giorgio Seveso (L’Unità), Remo Brindisi (painter), Riccardo Bacchelli (writer), Gianni Arbasino (writer), Milena Milani (poetess) and many others.
In 1985 and 1986 he organized, in Gonnesa, Sardegna, The Internetional poetry’s Festival “Il Minatore”, where he met such as important world poets : Richard Burns (England), Walter Perrie (Scotland), Waldo Rochas (Chile), Viaceslav Kuprianov (Russia), Javier Lentini (Spain), Crispin Elsted (Canada) etc. In 1986 he published some booklet of poems in a greater collection “Italian poets in French language”, a book introduced in Paris to the Sorbona University (Letters and Phylosophy faculty).Then he  published, in Italy, another booklet of poems in “The Italian ‘900 poets Antology”. During the ninenties he held several conferences in France, thanks to a strong relationship with the international university environement: Sorbona University (Paris), Rennes University (France Britain), Accademie des beaux Arts de Limoges,(Haute Vienne-France), centre Culturelle de Tulle (Correze-France); and in Slovenia- Lubiana: CTJ, Izobrazevalni Center ZA Tuje Jezike (a prestigious school for foreigners’ languages and literatures), Istiutum Studiorum Humanitatis  (Humanistic and Anthropological’s studies Academy - Lubiana),  and the Slovenian P.E.N.  , Drustvo Slovenskih Pisateljev.
He was always been next to the show business’ world and this is the reason why he wrote for the theatre, for the classical dance world and for the Tv. His works are performed by national and international actors and acting-companies.

ABOUT ANGELO ON TELEVISION:

RTF (Francia), RAI  three nets,  Fininvest nets, Slovenian television, Croatian etc.
He won several national and international poetry prizes:  Carlo Goldoni’s prize, Premio Lido di Spina’s prize (Remo Brindisi museum),  the world poetry prize "Cristal Vilenica" (Slovenia), international prize of Etnostory "Giovi Città di Salerno 2000”. He was chairman of Literature and Globalization at XXIV° Zagrebački Knijževni Razgovori & Regionalna Konferencija P.E.N. Zagreb (Croazia).


MOST IMPORTANT WORKS & CRITICS: 
Chiara Samugheo photos’ book Stars on movies, Medarodni Filmski Festival (International film festival of Lubiana-Slovenia), Mask and Man, photo Flor Garduño (Messico), Town of Waters  photo Hans Georg Berger (Germania), Second Thougts photo Rossano B. Maniscalchi (Praga - New York). In 1987 he wrote a book on the history of the Italian air Company Alitalia, published in twent-one languages in the whole world . He was the main promoter of Italian Football world championship broadcast image, U.S.A. '94 (New York City - U.S.A.). In 1996 in occasion of The International film festival of Lubiana (Slovenia), he organized the photo exposition of Chiara Samugheo, dedicated to '50, '60 '70 movies’ Divas . In 2004 he published the poems book Labbra di Scisto, with Stefano Cherchi watercolour, dedicated to the great writer and friend Marcello Serra.  Between 2005 and 2007, he published several cultural articles on international travel and tourism magazines. Since 21 years he belonged to the Rotary International and he organized several national happenings like a day dedicated to the Doping in sport with the support of the Olympic- winner Pietro Mennea introduting his book : Il Doping nello Sport where he was mentioned by the author on the section “greetings”. Since 1998, he is the chairman of The National Poetry Prize Città D’Iglesias.
